Two of Scotland's oldest law firms set to merge

Scotland Thorntons

Dundee-based Thorntons Solicitors has announced a merger with Edinburgh-based rival Stuart & Stuart, creating the fourth largest law firm in Scotland.

The merger of two of Scotland’s oldest firms will expand the combined business to a total of 564 people, of which 71 are partners.

Stuart & Stuart, was founded back in 1800, while Thorntons' roots date back to 1857.
