Two Newport nightclubs closing for good after New Year's Eve parties

Two of Newport's biggest nightclubs are set to close for good after their New Year's Eve events. Bloc and Blind Tiger have announced they will be closing permanently on January 1 after hosting a final party to ring in the New Year.

The buildings on Cambrian Road have hosted nightclubs for almost a decade under different names. They were most recently home to The Courtyard and Blind Tiger which closed down in October 2020 and later reopened in August last year billed as Newport's biggest "superclub", Bloc.

The clubs on the site have traditionally been managed by businessman Iftekhar ‘Iffy’ Harris, who oversaw Bloc's opening last year but told WalesOnline he had leased the buildings to new investors to run day-to-day. The reasons for the clubs' closure and future of the buildings is not known.
