It feels like a while since we've had some official news from the Outlander set. After the recent announcement that young Canadian actor Charles Vandervaart would be taking up the role of William Ransom, it appears we have some new additions to the cast.
After much speculation following a few leaked images from the set at Pollok Park in Glasgow, Deadline News has confirmed that the Hunter family have indeed been cast.
Snow White and the Huntsman star Izzy Meikle-Small and Billy Elliot actor Joey Phillips have been announced by Starz as the actors behind brother and sister Rachel Hunter and Dr. Denzell 'Denny' Hunter.
Writing about the roles, the news release confirmed: "Dr. Denzell Hunter has been trained in medicine in Boston and London. As a firm believer in liberty, he is preparing to join the Revolutionary Army as a surgeon. His younger sister Rachel is modest but shows flashes of a fiery spirit that attracts the admiration of both William and Young Ian."
“We’re excited to welcome Izzy and Joey to the Outlander family and can’t wait for fans to see how these two fantastic actors bring Rachel and Denzell to life,” Matthew B. Roberts, showrunner, writer, and executive producer told Deadline.
The pair are reported to be with the cast and crew in Scotland, and if the Pollok Park photos are anything to go by, appear to already be filming scenes for the hit show.
