Two more men charged over 'cowardly' street murder

Two more men have been charged with a "cowardly" murder that left six children without a father.

The 37-year-old man died in hospital following surgery after a group of masked men launched the Saturday afternoon attack in Sydney's west in July.

The quartet swarmed the victim and stabbed him to death as he and a friend stopped for pizza in Guildford, police say.

With two of the alleged killers already before the courts, police on Friday said they had arrested two other men believed to have been involved in the attack.

One man, aged 26, was stopped at an Oporto restaurant in Glenmore Park on Wednesday and faces several serious charges, including murder and possessing a dedicated encrypted criminal communication device.

He was refused bail in court on Thursday, with the case next due for mention in December.

A second 26-year-old man was arrested before dawn on Friday in Merrylands, and was charged with murder and being part of a criminal group.

He was due to face a local court on Friday.

None of the four charged men are required to enter pleas at this stage.

Police have treated the incident as a targeted attack possibly linked to a drug dispute.

"It wasn't just some random attack ... there's three cars involved and four people," Homicide Squad commander Danny Doherty told reporters earlier in October.

"Having four people gang up, or at least three get out of the car and attack one person, is a cowardly act."

A man with the victim at the time distracted one of the attackers before retrieving a car and driving the victim to Westmead Hospital.

The man died later that day.
