Two missing rappers and friend found dead in 'abandoned' apartment after cancelled gig

Two missing rappers and their friend have been found dead in an apartment complex in Detroit, US. Rappers Armani Kelly, 27, and Dante Wicker, 31, disappeared two weeks ago after cancelling a gig in the city, but police confirmed on Thursday that their bodies have been identified.

Authorities had been searching for the musicians and their friend Montoya Givens, 31, for a number of weeks before they were found dead inside the building. Kelly, who went by the stage name Marley Whoop, and Wicker, known as B12, were supposed to perform at a birthday party at Lounge 31 in Detroit on January 21 but didn't attend, the Mirror reports.

Givens' mum, Cat Foyle, was given the devastating news by officers that the men's bodies had been found on Thursday afternoon. Speaking to Detroit News, she said: "They told me they found the three bodies… I don't know what I'm going to do; how I'm going to bury him."

Previous reports suggested Kelly's gig didn't go ahead due to an equipment issue. He is believed to have told his fiancée, Taylor Perrin, that he instead was planning to pick up his friends to look for other open gigs. The pair last spoke at around 7.30pm before Kelly's car was later found at the apartment complex without its license plate.

A property in Detroit was later raided by police leading to a person of interest being questioned. Michigan State Police 1st Lt Mike Shaw confirmed that three male bodies were discovered under mounds of debris inside the "abandoned" building.

Earlier in the day, Michigan State Police tweeted: "Members of the Homicide Task Force, Metro South Post and the MSP Forensic lab are currently at an abandoned apartment complex on the corner of McNichols and Log Cabin in Highland Park on a death investigation. Multiple victims were located in the building".

The MSP tweet said. "They have not been identified at this time. Detectives are currently obtaining search warrants to search the building and recover the victims. We will continue to update here as the investigation progresses."
