NEW DELHI: Two men, including a US-trained commercial pilot working with a private airline, have been arrested for allegedly making forged documents to grab the property of a 85-year-old woman in south Delhi’s Freedom Fighters Enclave.
The documents were submitted before a civil court to claim the property, police said.
The accused have been identified as Nitish Choudhary, the commercial pilot, and Sahil Agarwal, a Delhi University graduate. The main accused, Rajesh Saini, the victim’s son-in-law, was arrested in 2018.
Victim Madhu Malti Saini told police that she had bought a 200-square-yard plot and constructed a two-floor house. “Saini said her daughter Sangeeta, who was 50% shareholder, died in January 2016. Saini filed a civil suit against her son-in-law Rajesh Saini before a civil court and the forgery came to light during the hearing,” Chhaya Sharma, joint commissioner of police of Economic Offences Wing.
Saini came to know about the alleged forgery while going through the documents and replies submitted by Rajesh, Sharma said. According to his submissions, the complainant had sold the property to her late daughter in 2015, while the victim had never executed any such deed, the DCP added.
The documents, which were found in the computer and the laptop of Rajesh, were found to be forged during forensic investigations, police said.
Further investigations revealed involvement of Choudhary and Agarwal. “It was finally established that Nitish Choudhary and Sahil Agarwal, in criminal conspiracy with main accused Rajesh Saini, created the forged documents,” police said.
