Two men have been charged with attempted murder after allegedly shooting another man in the groin during a random carjacking.

Police allege Dean Edward Charles Cubby, 34, and Jeffery Alexander Ward-Sinclair, 31, approached a ute that was parked on Glen Eagles Drive in Dalby, west of Toowoomba, about 8.30am on Thursday.

"An altercation [allegedly] took place between the two men and the occupants of the vehicle, a male driver and a passenger, which resulted in the driver being shot," a police spokesperson said.

Police said the two groups were not known to each.

The male driver was rushed to the Dalby hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Police said his injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.

The men allegedly took the ute and drove it on the Warrego Highway towards Toowoomba, with police tracking its movements.

Police said the ute hit tyre-deflation devices at Charlton, but continued on before colliding with a motorbike in South Toowoomba.

"The male rider of that motorcycle was treated on scene by [paramedics], my understanding is he's currently seeking further treatment for minor injuries," Detective Inspector Jason Kitto said.

Police said the vehicle came to a stop near the intersection of O'Quinn and West streets, with police taking the two men into custody.

Officers allegedly located two firearms in the vehicle.

On Thursday night, Mr Ward-Sinclair from Dalby was charged with attempted murder, armed robbery, unlawful possession of weapons and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

Mr Cubby, from Toowoomba, was charged with one count each of armed robbery, attempted murder, unlawful possession of weapons, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a vehicle and possessing utensils.

Both men had their matters briefly mentioned in the Oakey Magistrates Court on Friday morning.

Neither man appeared in the courtroom as Magistrate Kay Ryan ordered police provide a brief of evidence by June 16 and adjourned it for a committal mention on June 27 in the Dalby Magistrates Court.

Defence lawyer Claire Graham said there would be no application for bail, so Magistrate Ryan remanded both men in custody.
