Two men charged over an 18-hour long siege on the Gold Coast have had their case mentioned at Southport Magistrates Court.
Tyson James Finney, 25, and 32-year-old Chase John Haskwell are accused of sparking an armed stand-off with police after barricading themselves inside a Nerang home on Wednesday.
Finney has been charged with three counts of unauthorised possession of medicines, three counts of possessing dangerous drugs, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, possession of a shortened firearm, possessing explosive [ammunition], stealing, receiving tainted property and armed robbery.
Haskwell faces multiple charges, including unlawful use of a motor vehicle, possessing dangerous drugs, possession of a shortened firearm as well as a drug offence, wilful damage, stealing, receiving tainted property and armed robbery.
Police evoked the Public Safety Preservation Act (PSPA) at 5pm on Wednesday, after the duo allegedly refused to negotiate with officers.
They surrendered to specialist police just before 11am on Thursday.
The pair were allegedly wanted on return-to-prison warrants, and had been on the run for about two weeks after one of the men cut off a GPS monitoring device.
The charges also relate to an alleged armed robbery in Helensvale last week.
Four other people were in the home at the time, but left after police went looking for the men on Wednesday.
The emergency declaration forced some residents to sleep in their cars overnight, while others were told to stay inside during negotiations.
The pair remain in custody with matter due to return to court on July 26.
The siege was one of a string of incidents on the Gold Coast in the past week.
On Saturday, a man was grazed by a bullet in a random shooting in Coolangatta.
The Arundel Police Beat was shot at in a drive by-style shooting on Monday, but no one was injured.
Police are investigating if the incidents are linked.
The charges do not relate to those incidents.
