Two men have been charged over an alleged machete attack in Coatbridge.
Police were called to a home on Beechwood Drive in the town amid reports of a disturbance at 2.30am on May 17. A 28-year-old man and his partner, also 28, were found with serious injuries and rushed to Monklands hospital.
Two men, aged 25 and 40, have now been charged in connection with the incident. Both are expected to appear at Airdrie Sheriff Court on Friday.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Two men, aged 25 and 40, have been arrested and charged in connection with a disturbance, which took place in Beechwood Drive, Coatbridge, on Wednesday, May 17, 2023.
"Both are expected to appear at Airdrie Sheriff Court on Friday, July 7, 2023."
Police sealed off the residential street following the horror attack.
The male victim had his right leg amputated while his partner lost two fingers on her left hand.
Both victims had a number of fingers sewn back on. The victim, who lost his leg, then took to social media, sharing a clip taunting his alleged attackers from his hospital bed.
Going under the name 'Strictly Criminal', a video shows him dancing in hospital as he stares down the camera and says: "Take the fingers, take the leg, but you won't take my life, ya bunch of f***ing dafties."
A woman who appears to be filming the man can be heard giggling in the background.
