Two men arrested as emergency services swoop on Glasgow street amid 'ongoing incident'

Two men have been arrested following a 'disturbance' in Glasgow this evening.

Mercy crews, including Police Scotland and Scottish Ambulance service, descended on Deanston Drive in the Shawlands area of the city around 6.45pm.

Eyewitnesses say there were at least nine police vehicles and officers in attendance.

A helicopter is also believed to have been circling overheard.

One eye-witness said: "Two guys in separate wagons and one large knife was put into another police car.

"At least 9 vehicles. All happened very fast."

Another said: "Helicopter up now after at least a half dozen police."

A third added: "That was some response... I thought there had been some kind of bad accident".

Two males, aged 36 and 40, were arrested and charged in relation to the incident.

Nobody was injured during the event.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 6.45pm on Monday, 6 June, officers were called to a disturbance on Deanston Drive, Glasgow.

"There were no reports of any serious injuries.

"Two men aged 36 and 40 years have been arrested and charged in connection with this incident and are due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Tuesday, 7 June.

A report will be forwarded to the Procurator Fiscal."
