Two men were arrested on suspicion of murder after an 18-year-old man was killed.
Michael Toohey, 18, of Oil Street, was attacked outside an internet cafe on London Road shortly before 6pm on Saturday. Emergency services rushed to the scene and took Michael to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
A post mortem confirmed he died from multiple injuries and a murder investigation was launched. A 31-year-old man from Walton and a 33-year-old man of no fixed address were arrested on Monday on suspicion of murder and have been taken into custody to be interviewed.

A 34-year-old woman from Fazakerley remains on bail following her earlier arrest on suspicion of assisting an offender.
Temporary Detective Chief Inspector Steve McGrath said: “While we have now made three arrests in relation to this investigation and our enquiries are progressing well, we are still keen to hear from anyone who may be able to assist our investigation into Michael’s tragic death.
“This incident happened in a busy area on a Saturday evening, and there were a number of people stood at bus stops on London Road, walking past TJ Hughes or driving along London Road who may have witnessed this incident or a vehicle driving erratically at that time. We remain keen to appeal to anyone who saw or has heard what happened to come forward. Similarly, if you captured any mobile phone footage or dash cam footage then please contact police.”
