Two men arrested after bomb disposal experts respond to 'suspicious item' in Largs

A suspicious item was found on a boat at Largs marina

TWO men have been arrested after police, bomb disposal experts and the coast guard were called out to reports of a suspicious item on a boat at Largs marina.

At around 3.30pm on Sunday, police were called to Irvine Road – and were joined by the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOC) team and HM Coastguard officers.

The area was evacuated and sealed off by police officers while investigations were carried out.

However, it was decided later in the afternoon that the suspicious item was “not viable” and there were no reports of injuries.

“Two men aged 40 and 23 have been arrested in connection with a breach of the peace,” Inspector Barry Walker said.
