Two Jaish Commanders Killed in Operation Kiya in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur

The encounter broke out on Tuesday in the forested Jophar area of Ramnagar after security forces established contact with the terrorists around 4 pm. The operation was launched based on specific intelligence inputs provided by the Jammu and Kashmir Police.

Both terrorists have been identified as senior commanders of the JeM terror group. One of them was identified as Mavi, while the identity of the second terrorist is yet to be officially verified. An AK-47 rifle and an M4 carbine were recovered from the neutralised terrorists.

In a post on X, the Indian Army’s White Knight Corps said the operation was meticulously planned and executed by troops of CIF Delta in coordination with the Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).

“Contact with terrorists was established yesterday and since then, terrorists were prevented from breaking contact. Following a calibrated and coordinated response, two terrorists have been successfully neutralised,” the Army said, highlighting seamless inter-agency coordination, tactical precision and high professional standards.

Security forces had cordoned off the targeted area to prevent the terrorists from escaping, while additional reinforcements were rushed to the site during the encounter. The operation was later concluded successfully, though the area continues to remain under surveillance.

Earlier, the Army had confirmed the ongoing operation through a social media update, stating that a joint intelligence-based operation was underway in the Basantgarh area of Udhampur district.

Meanwhile, security forces are continuing search operations in Kishtwar district’s Chatroo area to track down another group of three to four Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorists believed to be operating in the region.
