A woman has suffered burns and a fire broke out in a central London flat when sunlight reflected off a makeup mirror.
Firefighters were called at 4.13pm on Sunday to a fire at a block of flats on upmarket Lindsay Square in Pimlico.
A flat on the third floor of the five-storey building had been partially damaged by fire.
A woman, who had burnt her hands, and a man were both found suffering from smoke inhalation.
They were treated at the scene by the London Ambulance Service.
The London Fire Brigade believe the fire was accidental and caused by sunlight reflecting off the mirror.
The fire was brought under control in around 90 minutes after four fire engines and around 25 firefighters from Lambeth, Soho and Clapham fire stations attended the scene.
A London Fire Brigade spokesperson said: “These sorts of fires are not as rare as you would think.
“They can happen all year around, but as we head into summer and the sun gets stronger, it’s really important that reflective items such as mirrors, crystals and glass ornaments are kept out of direct sunlight.”
