Two in critical condition after man fired 60 rounds near Harvard, shooting like a ‘video game’

  • A gunman, identified as Tyler Brown, opened fire with an assault rifle on drivers along Memorial Drive in Cambridge, Massachusetts, on Monday afternoon.
  • The incident, which occurred near Harvard University, left two people with life-threatening injuries and caused panic among commuters.
  • Brown discharged between 50 to 60 rounds before being shot and detained by a state trooper and an armed civilian, a former Marine.
  • One witness, Joseph Minino Rodriguez, said he saw the shooting unfold from his apartment balcony overlooking the road. “I thought this was a video game,” Rodriguez told reporters. “He didn’t give a f***. He didn’t care.”
  • Authorities confirmed Brown was on probation for previous offenses, including an attempted murder conviction in 2021 and shooting at Boston police officers in 2020. Brown faces charges, including two counts of armed assault with intent to murder and possession charges related to the weapon.
