Two Hillsborough survivors have taken their own lives after being "retriggered" by the events of the Champions League Final at the Stade de France.
Speaking at the Hillsborough Law Now event on Monday (September 26), Peter Scarfe from Hillsborough Survivors Support said two people had taken their own lives, while the support group has had to put many people through therapy, since the traumatic events of the final in May.
The final, played between Liverpool and Real Madrid on May 28, saw thousands of Liverpool supporters treated dangerously in the surrounding areas of France's national stadium. Supporters - including children and those with disabilities - were forced into cramped and dangerous spaces before the game as turnstiles remained closed, before being indiscriminately sprayed with tear gas and pepper spray by French police. After the match, many were beaten and robbed by gangs.
