Two freight trains collide in Germany's Munich; 1 killed

One person was killed after two freight trains collided in Munich on Saturday. This caused two carriages to fall from a bridge and crash onto a street, as reported by Reuters.

The reason behind the collision remains unclear as the investigation is still ongoing, a police spokesperson in ​the southern German ​city told Reuters.

After the emergency were alerted in ‌Munich's northern district of Milbertshofen at 1.40 ​am (local time), around 60 first responders were dispatched and arrived at the site, ​a fire department spokesperson said.

This comes a day after the tragic passenger train collision near Bedford, north of London on Friday. Two passenger trains collided, killing a train driver and injuring over 80 people. The collision occurred at around 5. 15pm local time between Bedford and Luton as both trains were travelling south towards London St Pancras station.
