Two drivers rushed to hospital after cars destroyed in horror Fife crash

Two drivers have been rushed to hospital after a horror two-vehicle crash in Fife.

Emergency services were called to the A913, near the village of Lindores, at 3.45pm on Monday after a collision between a Vauxhall Astra and a Hyundai Tucson.

Fife and Edinburgh Road Policing Units also attended to assist.

A 22-year-old man, the driver of the Vauxhall, and a 64-year-old man, the driver of the Hyundai, were both rushed to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee.

Their conditions are not yet known but their injuries were confirmed not to be life-threatening.

Photos taken at the scene show the aftermath of the crash, showing one car on the road and another in a field.

The bumper of the Hyundai has been ripped off and both the driver and passenger side door left lying open.

An airbag can also be seen as having inflated in the passenger seat and masses of debris surround the car.

The Vauxhall was also left significantly damaged, and missing a tyre.

A probe has now been launched into the crash.

The road was closed for around five hours but has since reopened.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were called around 3.45pm on Monday, 6 June, to a report of a two car crash involving a Vauxhall Astra and a Hyundai Tucson on the A913 near Lindores, Fife.

“Emergency services attended and a 22-year-old man, the driver of the Vauxhall, and a 64-year-old man, the driver of the Hyundai, were taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee by ambulance.

“The road was closed while accident investigation work was carried out and the vehicles recovered and it re-opened around 8.45pm."
