Residents in Horfield awoke to a 'strange' sight on Monday morning (May 23) as two deer were spotted roaming the streets.
In a local Facebook group for residents, one woman shared images of the deer casually strolling past cars in the middle of the road on Filton Grove. She wrote: "Strange sight on Filton Grove this morning - two deer! I have contacted Secret World Wildlife Rescue and Wildlife and Badger Care but unfortunately the deer scarpered when a car turned into the road.
"Apparently they can get kicked out of their herd this time of year. If anyone sees them and they seem injured or sick, please can you call one of the above charities as they will try and rescue them."

In response to her post, lots of fellow residents shared concern for the deer's welfare, with some commenting that they "look very young". Some even described spotting them in other parts of the area too, though as it had been quite early in the morning, a number of locals were sure that they had just been "seeing things".
The deer were also seen walking along Dovercourt Road, Camborne Road, Filton Avenue and Keys Avenue. Locals said they spotted them from as early as 5am and one woman described them as "running in and out of traffic".
It is thought the deer may have come from nearby Stoke Park and it's not yet known where the pair went later in the day. However, similar sightings in the past have simply seen the deer head home or off to pastures new.
Back in May 2019, a woman in Horfield filmed a deer trotting around a street between Southmead and Gloucester Road. And, before that, in 2017, there were sightings of deer in gardens in Southmead and even in the city centre, Castle Park and Old Market.
In 2018, the headteacher of Christ Church primary school in Downend appealed for help to try to shoo away a deer that had taken up residence on her school grounds. And in 2020, during the Covid-19 pandemic, people believed that 'wildlife were reclaiming Bristol during the lockdown' after a deer was spotted crossing the Wells Road.
