According to authorities, the altercation at a martini bar in CityPlace Doral turned fatal when a patron brandished a firearm, resulting in the tragic death of a security guard who attempted to intervene. Prompt action by City of Doral police officers on the scene was credited with preventing further escalation of the situation.
During the exchange of gunfire, a Doral police officer was wounded in the lower extremity but managed to apply a tourniquet to himself and is currently in stable condition. The officer successfully neutralized the shooter, averting additional harm.
