Two dead after random stabbing attack in New York’s Times Square

  • A 49-year-old woman was fatally shot by police after randomly stabbing two people in New York City's Times Square on Monday.
  • A 32-year-old woman died from her injuries, while a 68-year-old man remains in a stable condition following the attack.
  • Officers attempted to disarm the suspect using a Taser, but opened fire after she refused to drop two large kitchen knives and advanced towards them.
  • NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch confirmed the suspect had a documented mental health history and stated there was no evidence of a terrorist motive.
  • City officials praised the rapid response of the officers involved, stating their actions prevented further casualties in the heavily touristed area.
