Two constables among 11 booked for woman’s murder

The Porumamilla police registered cases against 11 persons, including two police constables, for the alleged torture and murder of a woman Sheik Munni (30).

Having separated from her husband, the woman was employed in a local super market, where she was allegedly in a relationship with the owner Mabu Hussain. With the issue creating rift in their families, Mabu Hussain’s family members were alleged to have hatched a plan to eliminate her. Though Munni moved to Giddalur in Prakasam district some five months back, the relationship reportedly continued.

Mabu’s family members, accompanied by two constables Sayed and Jilani, went to Giddalur, allegedly abducted Munni from her residence and brought her to Porumamilla.

According to Porumamilla Circle Inspector Ramesh Babu, the woman was allegedly thrashed indiscriminately by the constables as well as Mabu’s relatives. She was dumped in front of her residence. The cops shifted the body to Rajiv Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Kadapa, for postmortem and also registered a case against the eleven, including the constables.
