Two people have been rescued from a house in Edinburgh after a fire broke out. Emergency service crews were called to reports of a blaze on Granton Mains Brae at around 3.03 pm on Tuesday, July 12.
Six fire appliances battled to contain the flames as black smoke can be seen rising from the roof and top floor of the property. The SFRS have since confirmed that two casualties were treated by the Scottish ambulance service.
Dramatic footage from the scene shows firefighters in front of the property as neighbours were forced to look on nervously at the burning building. However, It is not believed that the fire spread to any of the surrounding houses.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 3.03pm on Tuesday, July 12 to reports of a house on fire at Granton Mains Brae, Edinburgh. Operations Control mobilised six fire appliances and one height vehicle and firefighters extinguished a fire affecting the first floor of a two storey property.
"Two casualties were in the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service and crews left after ensuring the area was made safe.” A spokesperson for the Scottish Ambulance Service said: “We received a call from Scottish fire and rescue at 1505 hours to attend an incident at Granton Mains Brae in Edinburgh.
"We dispatched three resources to the scene including our special operations team.”
