Two casualties after fire breaks out at flat on busy Edinburgh street

A FIRE has broken out in a flat on a busy street in Edinburgh.

Four Scottish Fire and Rescue appliances attended the scene at the flat off Leith Walk on Edinburgh on Friday afternoon.

Two people have been treated and their condition is currently unknown.

A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue said: "We were alerted at 1.25pm on Friday, November 1 to reports of a flat on fire at Albert Street, Edinburgh.

“Operations Control mobilised four fire appliances and one height vehicle to the scene where firefighters are working to extinguish a fire affecting a first floor flat within a five-storey building.

“Two casualties were in the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service.”

The cause of the fire is unknown.
