Two cars crash into Glasgow restaurant after road collision at city centre traffic lights

A Glasgow chip shop suffered damage after being struck by two cars following a crash in the city centre last night.

The two-vehicle smash took place on Ingram Street at the junction with High Street in the Merchant City around 9:50pm last night.

A photo taken from the scene shows the damaged cars outside Japanese restaurant Sapporo Teppanyaki on Ingram Street.

Thankfully no one required hospital treatment as a result of the crash, and no-one within the chip shop at the time was injured, according to police.

There are no details on the extent of the damage to the restaurant.

A 31-year-old man has been reported to the Procurator Fiscal in connection with alleged road traffic offences.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "Around 9.50pm on Tuesday, 5 April, 2022, police were called to a two-vehicle road crash on Ingram Street, near High Street, Glasgow.

"No one required hospital treatment as a result of the crash.

"The vehicles struck the window of a nearby restaurant, no details on the extent of the damage, no one within injured.

"A 31-year-old man is the subject of a report to the Procurator Fiscal in connection with alleged road traffic offences."
