This is the moment two burka-clad women brawled in front of shoppers and young children during lunchtime in a busy shopping centre.

One woman was taken to hospital as a result of injuries sustained during the lunchtime fracas while a second woman was arrested, gardai have confirmed.

The horror incident of a physical row between the two women took place inside Marshes Shopping Centre in Dundalk, Co Louth on Monday at 1.20pm.

In video footage of the incident, seen by The Star, one of the women, who was wearing a blue head scarf is seen grabbing the other woman, wearing a black leather jacket and white top, by the arms before pulling her to the ground.

A male, wearing a yellow top, intervenes and tries to separate the two fighting women.

Young children were seen crying and heard screaming during the horror scenes. A number of shocked schoolchildren are also seen walking by the incident.

Shortly after that, the man in the white t-shirt and a third man, wearing a blue jacket then intervene and pull the woman in the blue headscarf off the woman wearing the black leather jacket, who is lying on the ground.

It is then a security guard from the shopping centre intervenes and attends to the woman on the ground.

The security guard appeared to be trying to calm her and two hysterical children down.

The woman, wearing the black leather jacket, is seen lying on the ground and appears to be holding her hands to her face which may suggest she was injured during the fracas.

During the two minute 39 second video, one bystander is heard saying "it’s shocking, isn’t it”.

An unnamed worker at the shopping centre confirmed to The Star the incident happened on Monday at lunchtime during a busy shopping day.

The source said gardai were contacted in relation to the incident.

“Another woman, aged in her 20s, was arrested in relation to this incident,” gardai also confirmed.
