Two boys have been arrested after “several” animals were killed at a west London college on Sunday.
A 12-year-old boy and an 11-year-old boy have been arrested on suspicion of burglary and animal cruelty after the deaths of “a number” of animals at Capel Manor College, said police.
The pair remain in custody.
The college, which describes itself as London’s only environmental college, has several campuses, including in Enfield and Gunnersbury Park.
Police did not say on which of the campuses the animals were found dead.
However, a message on the college website stated: “The Gunnersbury Park Campus is closed to students on Monday 26 February 2024, due to unforeseen circumstances. All lessons will be online where possible.”
Officers also did not confirm the type of animals allegedly killed.
A Met Police spokesperson said: “On Sunday, 25 February we received a report that several animals had been killed and animal closures had been damaged at Capel Manor College.
“Officers visited the scene and viewed CCTV footage. A forensic examination was also carried out.”
According to the college’s website, its campuses include two zoos, a farm, and a dog grooming parlour.
The college offers courses in agriculture, animal management, and floristry among others, with pupils studying vocational courses, apprenticeships and higher education degrees.
Officers investigating the case urged witnesses to call 101, quoting the reference CAD1639/25Feb.
