A pair of bestie mums have taken spontaneous travel to a whole new level by flying 2,500 miles from Manchester to Lanzarote for a fun day out. They documented their travels on TikTok with the now-viral video hitting 841k views.
The mums' travel plans unfolded after they booked a flight to Spain for £23. Citing their European trip as a way to 'blow off January blues', the mums, who have seven children between them, decided to post updates to the 0nlyMums TikTok account.
The besties, who between them have seven children, decided to catch a flight to Lanzarote on their day off for just £23 and then shared their antics online, reports Manchester Evening News. One of mums whose ninja organisation skills even saw her prepare her children's packed lunch, wrote: “Well my weekend's on the up because I’ve just booked a £23 flight to Spain for the day to blow off the January blues - me and the bestie - the packed lunch is made for the kids on Monday and I’ll be back at midnight!”
In another video, she shared photos of her living her best life in Lanzarote saying it was “better than a Sunday round Sainsbury’s!” She urged people to be more spontaneous, saying you can do more with your day off at a low cost and still be in bed for midnight.
“Ladies, if you only think you have a day to spare, make it count! You can absolutely do it. We got up at 3.45am - we’ve had the best day in Lanzarote. We’ve been in the sea, had three Sex on the Beach cocktails, been to Zara - what more do you need hun? Book the flight!”
The video has gained over 841k views and the comment section is flooded with positive messages and love for the mums. Viewers deemed the pair “legends” while many started tagging their friends in the viral video saying “we need to do this!”
One viewer commended the pair saying: “This energy is amazing! Well done ladies! Hope you both had the best time!”
Another appreciative poster said: “This is exactly what life is about.” Others who had also enjoyed spontaneous day trips shared their experiences. Did this for a laugh and went to Germany for the day. Sounds cheesey but you just have to see the whole journey as the fun part, not the destination,” one person commented.
“Great fun. I've done it with work colleagues, done Venice, Milan, Barcelona, Rome, Amsterdam, Dublin - all places I would never have seen,” another said.
Although not everyone has had a positive experience at catching last-minute flights. One user said:”My mate did this this weekend, it snowed at Manchester airport and she was sat on the plane for a total of 9 hours while they were sorting it out.”
