A poem written by Bono that was recited by US politician Nancy Pelosi at the White House for St Patrick's Day has gone viral.
The Speaker of the House hosted an annual luncheon where she announced that she had received a message from Bono.
She said: "Most of us, whether we're in Ireland or here, Bono has been a very Irish part of our lives."

The poem starts off with the story of St Patrick casting the snakes out of Ireland and ends with:
"Ireland’s sorrow and pain
Is now the Ukraine
And Saint Patrick's name
Is now Zelensky"
A number of Twitter users have taken to social media with parodies and criticism of the "cringe" poem.
One person said: "Legal question: I just cringed so hard I ruptured something. Does anyone know if I can sue?"
Another person asked: "Instead of cancelling Russia can the world just cancel us instead?"
A third Twitter user added: "The international community must impose severe and comprehensive sanctions on Bono."
Another person said: "I don’t know what Bono’s day job is, frankly I don’t want to know, but he definitely shouldn’t give it up."
Here is the full poem:
Oh, Saint Patrick, he drove out the snakes
With his prayers but that’s not all it takes
For the snake symbolizes
An evil that rises
And hides in your heart
As it breaks
And the evil has risen, my friends
From the darkness that lives in some men
But in sorrow and fear
That’s when saints can appear
To drive out those old snakes once again
And they struggle for us to be free
From the psycho in this human family
Ireland’s sorrow and pain
Is now the Ukraine
And Saint Patrick’s name
Is now Zelensky
