The Tennessee Titans had several opportunities to put the Kansas City Chiefs away in Week 9 but failed to do so, which paved the way for Patrick Mahomes and Co. to win the game in overtime, 20-17.
Things got off to a bad start for the Titans, with the Chiefs scoring on their first two drives to take an early 9-0 lead. Tennessee’s defense would put the clamps on KC after that, though, and the offense went on to score 17 unanswered points to take a 17-9 lead.
Thanks to the defense, that lead held up until late in the fourth quarter when Mahomes went off on a 13-play, 93-yard scoring drive that saw him put his team on his back and force overtime, with an assist from the officials, who botched multiple calls during the two-point tries.
Tennessee’s offense, which went cold in the second half and provided zero support for the defense, was unable to respond after the Chiefs went ahead 20-17 in the extra frame, sealing the win for Kansas City.
After the game, Twitter had a lot to say about the loss overall, as well as the poor officiating and wide receiver play. Here’s a look at the reactions from Sunday night.
The Titans pushed KC further than I think anyone thought they could with Willis at QB, but it just wasn’t enough tonight.

Defense can be elite all it wants, but the offense has to be able to move the ball in the air at some point. WRs on the field are a train wreck, OL is a mudslide of crap on an entire side & OC a frightened turtle
This is why the #Titans ceiling is so low, not the QBs/D/HC/ST

If you blame Malik for that you don't know football
— Jimmy Morris (@jmorrisMCM) November 7, 2022
Everybody hold strong on Malik Willis, please
No rookie on planet earth is succeeding with Cody Hollister as a starting pass catcher, Dennis Daley protecting your blindside, and Todd Downing calling your plays
Hold…….Strong #Titans

I don’t know if the Titans are gonna win this game, but here’s what I do know: Mike Vrabel gets more out of his team than just about any coach in the NFL. Every. Single. Year.

I honestly don’t understand why the @titans take out Henry just because they’re behind the sticks.
The guy can flip the field with one carry that everyone knows is coming.
— Rich Eisen (@richeisen) November 7, 2022
Bottom line, the #Titans proved they can hang in with anyone tonight.
Get Ryan Tannehill and Treylon Burks back healthy, and then you go.

0 Titans wide receivers caught a pass tonight.
Zero. pic.twitter.com/QH5gSdVNIK

You can blame this loss on Todd Downing for blowing 1st and 10 at the 50 yard line in the 4Q with an 8 point lead. #Titans

#Titans defense gave it a hell of an effort tonight no matter what happens here.
Giving your defense zero points in the second half is outrageous.

Guessing the #Titans will get a sweet letter from the league about missed calls this week.
Should have been DPI on that Hooper play & Travis Kelce isn't allowed to throw his helmet 20 yards
— AtoZ Sports Nashville (@AtoZSports) November 7, 2022
How do the Chiefs have "Noah Gray" who can make that catch and the #Titans have nobody
— AtoZ Sports Nashville (@AtoZSports) November 7, 2022
Hard to beat Patrick Mahomes AND the refs!

I'm proud of the way the boys played tonight. We smacked the Chiefs in the mouth repeatedly. This was the play of the game by the REFS. If they call this correctly, we win this ballgame. #Titans #Chiefs https://t.co/iOKx8BDJxZ

This loss is on Todd Downing & Jon Robinson.
Terrible play calling in the 2nd half and a piss poor group of WRs.
They need guys who get open, not just block. It’s 2022. #Titans

And don't y'all dare put this on Malik when he had perfect passes dropped in regulation‼️ 🗣️ #Titans

I am not a blame the refs guy but this crew has just been incredibly awful tonight. The holds at the LOS are absurd on this Titans DL
