Kennedy Nzechukwu wasn’t supposed to headline UFC Fight Night 215, but when Derrick Lewis pulled out of the event on fight day, he made the most of his makeshift opportunity against Ion Cutelaba.
After a rough start to the light heavyweight headliner at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nzechukwu (11-3 MMA, 5-3 UFC) stormed back in the second round to hurt and earned the TKO of Cutelaba (16-9-1 MMA, 5-8-1 UFC).

Bloody Elbow
Big overhands early from Cutelaba and Nzechukwu is hurt early. Cutelaba drives for a takedown and hulks Nzechukwu to the mat. Nzechukwu up fast but eats a heavy uppercut. #UFCVegas65

Kennedy Nzechukwu is such a momentum fighter. It doesn't matter if he's down in a fight, he's never out.
Brilliant strategy to throw the knees knowing that Cutelaba would want to take him down once he started to fatigue.

Ariel Helwani
Cutelaba had, what, 10-15 more seconds to survive that than Izzy last week? He was out long before it was stopped. Great win for Kennedy.

Awesome fight IQ by Kennedy Nzechukwu not to allow the foul timeout to take place. He knew it'd give Ion Cutelaba time to regroup. Smart. #UFCVegas65
