The Kansas City Chiefs knocked off the Buffalo Bills in the divisional round of the NFL Playoffs on Sunday to advance to their sixth consecutive AFC Championship Game.
That monumental feat has elicited comparisons between the Chiefs and the old New England Patriots dynasty, which spanned nearly two decades. During the Patriots’ legendary run, they were the most hated team in the NFL.
Such has been the case for the Chiefs as they’ve continued to find consistent success. They are clearly the new dominant force in the NFL. They’ve won two of the last four Super Bowls and have completely terrorized the AFC West division for years.
Meanwhile, quarterback Patrick Mahomes and tight end Travis Kelce continue to break records in a league hell-bent on trying to stop them.
To some, the Chiefs are the new Patriots, and Mahomes and Kelce are the new Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski. Here’s what fans were saying on social media after Sunday night’s game:
Kansas City Chiefs are the new version of the New England Patriots. The team to beat and always seem to find a way to win.

Of course, as soon as something negatively impacts the Kansas City Taylor Swifts it's gonna get changed.
The Chiefs are the new Patriots.

I like Kelce and Mahomes…but the Chiefs are starting to remind me of the old Patriots and I don’t like it lol…you know the “I don’t like you because you’re so damn good.”🤣🤣🤣

It’s an incredible feeling. I get how the Patriots fans felt in the last 2 decades. Chiefs fans are so spoiled to have Mahomes and Reid. https://t.co/BUdAgowSRj

Crazy how much has changed in 5 years.. Chiefs were a long suffering franchise and now they are the Patriots and people are tired of them

The chiefs really the new Patriots

One thing I learned about the Chiefs is they're following the Patriots playbook in one respect: Hall of Fame QB, young aggressive defense, and unproven receivers.

The Mahomes/Reid #Chiefs constant winning is about to have them rapidly approaching Belichick/Brady #Patriots levels of hate from NFL fans. Not necessarily because there’s anything to hate about them, but just because they stand in the way of parity in the league by being great

The best of the best. I used to hate Brady nd the patriots and all their success until I realized wtf am I hating for this is greatness happening. Now I feel that way about Mahomes and his Chiefs. They’re the best at what they do so why feel the need to hate. Appreciate greatness https://t.co/S6nRJ5h93f

With everyone hating on the Chiefs, is this what it felt like when the Patriots were dominating for all those years?
Because as a Patriots fan, this sucks.

Man…. People are really sick of the @Chiefs aren’t they?
As a Chiefs fan, this is how I felt about the @Patriots for 20 years 😂
Feels great 😝

The Chiefs have officially reached Patriots status

Hey @BarstoolBigCat chiefs fan here. I can confirm that it’s amazing. Never thought we’d be the new patriots.
— Daytona Moss (@daytona_jr) January 22, 2024
Well I’m starting to know what all the Patriots fans felt like for years. All I hear is the Chiefs get all the calls and Mahomes tells the refs what to call and when blah blah. @RealLife_J_LO @codylowe88 @RayLowe52469921 I feel y’all’s pain! Lol
