The Denver Broncos pulled off an impressive comeback against the Chicago Bears on Sunday. After trailing 28-7 in the third quarter, the Broncos went on to win 31-28, making the Bears the clear favorites to secure the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft (and quarterback Caleb Williams).
Broncos fans had mixed thoughts on securing a win and falling behind in the race for the No. 1 draft pick. Here’s a sampling of how Twitter (now known as X) reacted to the victory.
The Broncos trailed the Bears 28-7 in the third quarterback and then came back to win 31-28! What a performance from Russell Wilson! https://t.co/b8m9kCsBpF

My guy @ReemBoi25 coming through for US.
We have some fight damn it. @Broncos WIN!

So the Broncos win.
I'll never complain about a win but they still have plenty of work ahead.
Also, I'm not jumping off the rebuild train. It still needs to be in play and one win doesn't change that.

Why does it still feel like we lost today?

Add another few years to the rebuild.

The Bears were up 28-7 and lost 31-28. One step closer to Caleb Williams. Good day for them
— Geoff Schwartz (@geoffschwartz) October 1, 2023
So Matt Eberflus watched Caleb Williams yesterday too.
— Josh Dover (@JoshuaDover) October 1, 2023
Are we excited for this or still daydreaming about the path to Caleb?

1 win means nothing, I get it. A 1-3 team is a bad team, I get it. But the way the @broncos won, the adversity they faced. Being down 21, scoring 24 unanswered points, MEANS EVERYTHING, and will serve as the kickstart this team needed to start winning some games. #BroncosCountry

The Broncos winning 5-7 games does NOTHING for the franchise. The entire team needs to be torn down & rebuilt. No better way to do that than with the #1 pick in next years draft. We are fans, not players or coaches. Theres’s nothing wrong with wanting what’s best as a fan.

Justin Fields looking for Kmet and he just misses. K-Jack with the INT, and it’s over.
The Broncos get their first win. The Bears lose their fourteenth a row and move into pole position in the Caleb Williams derby.

W. Fought back, We’ll take it.

The Broncos will have another winnable game next week when they host the New York Jets, which could hurt Denver’s draft position even more. Fans who don’t think the Broncos are going to accomplish anything this season will likely continue to have mixed thoughts about winning at the cost of securing a top pick in the NFL draft.
