Twitter down for Irish and worldwide users in major outage

Twitter appears to be suffering a major outage with thousands of Irish and UK users reporting error messages on Thursday.

The issue started shortly after 1pm (Irish time) with users receiving 'this page is down' or 'something went wrong' messages while trying to access tweets and messages.

There has been a huge spike of reports of an outage at Twitter on the DownDetector service.

Twitter's own operations page is saying "all systems operational" despite the many reports of an outage.

People on the website's homepage are unable to log in while blank screens are greeting others trying to refresh their newsfeeds. The company's TweetDeck app is also impacted.
