Thousands of Twitter users have reported problems on the social media platform this afternoon.
Users have said that the platform is failing to load tweets, missing timelines and users have seen followers disappearing. It is not clear what has caused the problem and the company has not said how long the problem will last.
The platform told users their 'rate limit' was exceeded, although it is unclear what exactly caused the issue. It comes after the platform has faced turbulent times in the aftermath of Elon Musk's takeover last year.

One person said: "Me trying to figure out what is wrong with my Twitter, not knowing its Rate Limit Exceeded worldwide...... #RateLimitExceeded. Another person tweeted: "Anyone else having this problem. At first, I thought it said weight limit"
Another user posted: "I’ve been on for less than an hour, quote retweeted once, followed two new people, and now I’ve exceeded my limit for viewing any new tweets." One person said: "What's going on. How long is this going to happen. There are no updates on my feed."
Those still able to use Twitter, will see that #TwitterDown and #RateLimitExceeded are the top two trending hashtags.
