Microblogging website Twitter appears to be down. Thousands of users have reportedly had problems accessing the website this evening (August 9).
According to website Downdetector, over 11,000 people reported issues. The incident was first recorded around 7pm.
The site says 48% of those who reported an issue said it was impacting their ability to load the mobile application. While 43% said they were having issues accessing the website itself.
One report said: "Twitter down, not loading anything. Won't refresh."
Another added: "Very, very slow in the north west." A third said: "Twitter down east UK."
Founded 16 years ago, Twitter has become a popular platform with media companies, celebrities, and the public alike. It allows users to share messages under 280 characters - up from the original 140.
It made global headlines earlier this year when Tesla chief executive Elon Musk acquired a 9.1% share for $2.64 billion. He had planned to buy the firm for $46.5 billion but the idea was shelved last month.
It is not the only website users are reporting issues with tonight. Downdetector says users have said gaming platform Origin and Call of Duty are also experiencing issues.
