Twin sisters are celebrating after they both graduated from medical school.
Amelia and Jasmine Collins, 23, have lived together throughout their five-year course.
The siblings, from Wadebridge, Cornwall, England, graduated from the University of Exeter Medical School.
“It’s been fantastic to have Amelia as support,” said Jasmine.
“We’ve only experienced positives of being twins at medical school, and we’re so proud of ourselves and each other.
“We’re actually quite different – I have wanted to me a doctor from being very small, and for Amelia it was an ambition that developed later.
”We have an incredibly strong bond that has definitely helped us in our studies.”
“It’s been a lot of hard work and dedication, and we’re so proud to graduate,” said Amelia said
”We’re both going to work in intensive care – Jasmine will stay in Exeter, and I’m going to Cardiff.
”It’ll be the first time we’ve ever lived apart, but we feel ready and Exeter has prepared us really well for our roles. I’m sure we’ll Facetime every day!”
“Getting into any medical school is an extremely competitive process, so having twins synchronously graduating from our prestigious university is highly unusual,” said Professor Vikram Devaraj, Clinical Lead for Anatomy at the University of Exeter Medical School,
“Jasmine and Amelia are both very driven and energetic, and they’ve really grasped the opportunities afforded to them. Huge congratulations to them both.”
Other set of twins to have graduated from Med school in 2023
According to The Sun, Two sets of identical twins were among this spring’s Loma Linda University graduates in California, with sisters Lauren and Karen Bathan graduating from LLU’s School of Medicine and brothers Christopher and Luis Chan receiving their Doctor of Pharmacy degrees from the School of Pharmacy.
The May 28 commencement ceremony was the second time the Bathan twins graduated from LLU with identical degrees. They completed their undergraduate program in clinical laboratory science at Loma Linda’s School of Allied Health Professions.
“The Lewis twins obtained their undergraduate degree in Kinesiology at LSU in Baton Rouge. They then worked as medical assistants at an Urgent Care clinic in New Orleans. After a couple of years, they applied to medical school at LSU Health in Shreveport,” said KSLA News 12.
