Trever Nehls has been in the public eye this week as he secures the Republican nomination for the 22nd Congressional District of Texas following the primary elections on 3 March 2026. The projected victory positions Nehls on a historic path to succeed his identical twin brother, the incumbent United States Representative Troy Nehls, who recently confirmed his intention to retire from federal office.
The transition began to take shape following the conclusion of the most recent legislative session, when the incumbent representative announced he would not seek re-election to prioritise time with his family. If successful in the upcoming November general election, Trever Nehls would become the first member of Congress in United States history to directly succeed an identical twin in the same seat.
