Twilight fans were left in shock after it was revealed that a TV series based on the show is officially in the works.
Stephenie Meyer's best-selling book series based on vampires and werewolves is reportedly in early development with Lionsgate Television.
Sources have confirmed that while there is no writer or streaming service attached to the project, Stephenie is set to be involved with the potential series, alongside Wyck Godfrey and Erik Feig as executive producers.
Fans took to Twitter to share their reactions to the news and while some were thrilled, others weren't too keen on the thought of a remake just over a decade after the final movie hit cinemas.
One fan said they'd watch under one condition: "I’d watch the Twilight series if it meant we got to flesh out the backstory of all the side characters that we got in the illustrated guide.
"Because it’s kinda crazy how much more interesting literally every other character’s backstory is compared to the main plot."
Another excitedly said: "Yeah can’t front babes, I’m gonna watch!"
A third wasn't too pleased with the news: "The groan I just let out. I'm BEGGING Hollywood to get new ideas."
"Why is everyone rebooting everything?" a fourth chimed in. "Like make new things why do adaptations of movies released not even a decade ago…"
"What's so hard about making a new story in the same universe as Twilight? This is so tired like," another commented.
News of the TV series comes after Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer told Wall Street in 2017 that there were "lot more stories to be told, and we’re ready to tell them when our creators are ready to tell those stories," in reference to both Twilight and The Hunger Games franchises.
The franchise made stars of Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner and collectively grossed more than $3.4 billion worldwide.
New updates from Stephenie have come in the form of books in 2015, she released a book called Life and Death: Twilight Reimagined where she swapped the genders of Bella Swan and Edward Cullen.
Then in 2020, she released Midnight Sun which told the original story by from Edward's perspective.
