Joanna Lumley's Spice Trail Adventure, 9 pm, ITV1/ITVX (box set)
The normally upbeat star finds herself getting emotional as her glorious spice journey reaches its end. She’s adventuring across Zanzibar to Jordan’s ancient city of Petra, but it’s in Zanzibar where she learns that it wasn’t just spices that were bought and sold. Tragically, Stone Town in Zanzibar City was home to one of the world’s last slave markets, which saw people held in horrific dungeons before being sold. Later, Joanna also gets weepy when she releases a green turtle caught up in fishing equipment – and we’re tearful at the thought of this magical series coming to an end!

The Great British Sewing Bee 2023, 9 pm, BBC One
‘How is it already the final?!’ squeals one of the last three nervous sewers, and Esme Young and Patrick Grant haven’t done anything to ease the butterflies, as they lay on seriously tough challenges. After the stitchers create Victoriana-style dresses with luxurious fabrics that are a ‘nightmare’ to sew, they must turn womenswear into fashion-forward menswear. Finally, the Made to Measure, with loved ones as models, sees them attempt a dress that starts as one style and flips into another in a big reveal. But which of the equally deserving trio will be the winner?

The Girl from Plainville, 10 pm, Channel 4
Based on a true story, this eight-part drama begins with the suicide of teenager Conrad (Colton Ryan). We soon meet his girlfriend Michelle (The Great’s Elle Fanning), who is utterly distraught at the news. Strangely, neither Conrad nor Michelle’s family knew anything about their relationship. And when the police investigation into Conrad’s death unearths a history of text messages between the pair of ‘star-crossed lovers’, in which they talk about suicide, questions arise over whether Michelle, who has problems of her own, influenced Conrad’s decision to end his life. Fanning is superb as the titular girl from Plainville, and there’s excellent support from Chloë Sevigny as Conrad’s divorced, grieving mother. Continues tomorrow.

Rob & Romesh vs K-Pop, 9 pm, Sky Max/Showcase/NOW
Their madcap adventures kicked off last week with Rob Beckett and Romesh Ranganathan appearing on Penn & Teller’s magic show; this week, they continue to push the boundaries by checking out the music phenomenon that is K-pop. The pair hone their moves at a sold-out NCT Dream gig at Wembley Arena, before jetting off to Korea’s Hongdae Street, a hotspot for K-pop hopefuls. Has anyone mentioned they’re a couple of decades too old to fit the mould?

Dial M for Middlesbrough, 9 pm, BBC Two
Star-studded comic crime outings Murder on the Blackpool Express and Death on the Tyne proved to be huge fun, and this cheeky campsite-based caper, previously seen on GOLD, is a fitting follow-up. Coach driver Terry (Johnny Vegas) and tour guide Gemma (Sian Gibson) are seriously unimpressed when they end up stranded at Shady Creek, the world’s least desirable caravan park, populated by bizarre birdwatchers and an eccentric entertainment manager. But they are soon on the trail of yet another serial killer who is bumping off people in a range of macabre ways. Jason Donovan, Joanna Page, Annette Crosbie, Sally Lindsay and Phil Davis are among those playing the outrageous suspects.

Best box set on TV tonight
The Bear season 2, Disney Plus
Jeremy Allen White won a Golden Globe for his portrayal of troubled yet brilliant chef Carmen ‘Carmy’ Berzatto last year, and Disney Plus are serving up a second serving of the acclaimed drama. After saving their off-beat Chicago sandwich shop following his brother’s suicide, Carmy and his team are hoping to revamp and relaunch the restaurant this year, but soon find true excellence requires real sacrifice. Overflowing with stress-inducing drama, mouth-watering food, and some deeply tender moments, it’s a wonderfully shot examination of grief, friendship and hope that shows the first season was no flash in the pan.

Two astronauts are left stranded in orbit above the Earth when the debris from an exploding satellite destroys their shuttle.
