DI Jack Caffrey is still in Monmouthshire digging around for information on his brother’s disappearance but also trying to piece together who could be in trouble locally after reading a plea for help on a note written by Matilda Anchor-Ferrers (Juliet Stevenson) and attached to her dog that escaped. Events of five years previously during the ‘Donkey Pitch’ murders are shown in flashbacks, when Jack worked on the same force as DI Lincoln. Meanwhile, the terror continues for the Anchor-Ferrers family at the hands of eccentric psychopaths Honey (Sacha Dhawan) and Molina (Iwan Rheon), who seem to enjoy torturing them physically and mentally… Continues tomorrow.

Remarkable Places to Eat, 9 pm, More4
The series in which chefs and foodie celebrities share some of their favourite restaurants with Fred Sirieix has moved to More4 but nothing has changed (apart from ad breaks). Future guides include Angela Hartnett and Ravneet Gill, but in this opening episode, Fred’s in Puglia, Italy, with Dermot O’Leary, who describes the region as his ‘happy place’. First Dermot, who previously co-owned a seafood restaurant, takes Fred to a family-run eatery in the fishing port of Gallipoli, where they enjoy a raw seafood platter. Then they head inland to a former farmhouse that now specialises in traditional Puglian dishes, while also going behind the scenes to see how the pasta is made. Ottimo!

Earth, 9 pm, BBC Two
Chris Packham continues his mind-blowing series on the history of our planet, this week exploring how the atmosphere was created, beginning four billion years ago when Earth was a molten ball of volcanic rock. The heat radiating into space, Chris explains, created the biggest deluge the solar system has ever seen; ‘storms lasting centuries’ (this is illustrated with captivating CGI). Seas formed and then a giant evolutionary leap: photosynthesising bacteria thrived. We also hear from scientists who go to Antarctica to find freshly fallen meteorites in the ice and snow, and what these bits of space debris tell us is not only unlocking the past but informing how we steward our planet’s future.

A Cotswold Farm Shop, 8 pm, Channel 4
A series about a service station serving the M5 motorway and the people who live nearby doesn’t sound like a riveting watch, but it’s actually feelgood TV. The series follows the family-run Gloucester Services, a business at the heart of its community supporting local farmers and artisan crafters. First up we meet Jonathan Crump making unique flavoured cheeses from his rare breed of Gloucester cows.

Long Lost Family, 9 pm, ITV1
Tonight’s episode of the always-emotional series features two men trying to find members of their respective birth families. Joe grew up in Norfolk after being adopted as a baby in Bermuda and while his adoptive family was very loving and his siblings supportive, Joe – who was the only Black child in the community – would like to meet his other family. Elsewhere, Simon is setting out to fulfill his mother’s dying wish: to find the sister that she gave up for adoption a few years before Simon was born.

Best box set on TV tonight
All eight episodes of The Witcher season 3 are now available to stream on Netflix, so you can see Henry Cavill's last adventure (before he hands his swords over to Liam Hemsworth) all in one go. This latest installment sees Geralt and Yennefer attempting to prep Ciri as forces from all across The Continent compete to try and capture her. Travelling to the magical academy at Aretuza seems like a safe place to start with, but its not long before danger arrives in this action-packed third adventure.

Best film on TV tonight
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, 6 pm, ITV2
The young wizard is given the task of uncovering the secrets of Lord Voldemort's past as the evil sorcerer's henchmen cause havoc in both the magical and Muggle worlds. With the help of headmaster Dumbledore, Harry ventures into the memories of those who knew the Dark Lord during his early years, hoping to gain an insight into the secret behind his apparent immortality. However, Voldemort's influence extends much closer to home than expected, as Harry's rival Malfoy is chosen to carry out a sinister mission. Fantasy adventure sequel, starring Daniel Radcliffe, Michael Gambon, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, Tom Felton and Alan Rickman.
