Michael Palin in Nigeria
9pm, Channel 5
It’s the final week of Palin’s 1,300-mile journey across Nigeria, and he’s heading south to Benin City. As soon as he arrives, a local woman shares her strong feelings about statues there that are a reminder of British forces burning down the city in 1897. Thousands of bronze artefacts were also taken, which are still on display in the British Museum, and the city wants them back. Later, there is jollof rice for lunch and time to reflect.
