Return to Lockerbie With Lorraine Kelly

9pm, ITV1

In 1988, Lorraine Kelly reported from the scene of the Pan Am Flight 103 bombing that happened while flying over Lockerbie. In what is the deadliest terrorist attack in the UK, 243 passengers, 16 crew and 11 residents died. This emotionally charged documentary, she says, is not about that case – it is about the local people who had to stay after the cameras left, whom she speaks to when she revisits. Hollie Richardson

Shetland

9pm, BBC One

The beautiful backdrop and high crime rate of Shetland have worked their magic on DI Ruth Calder (Ashley Jensen) and she decides to stay for a few more days to tie up some loose ends. And they’re very loose indeed, as they involve more creepy symbols, a reclusive figure and a mysterious tattoo. Hannah Verdier

Cause of Death

9pm, Channel 5

The two cases brought before the coroner this week both involve complex police investigations and families who need answers, but that’s where the similarities end. Jozsef was just 29 when he was found dead in local woods, while 79-year-old David Burke died while in hospital. Can Dr Adeley and his team shed any light? Ellen E Jones

The Lazarus Project

9pm, Sky Max

From I May Destroy You to Black Mirror, Paapa Essiedu is brilliant in everything – and now he can add this time-bending thriller to that list. The opening episode of the second season sees the world stuck in a three-week loop – George (Essiedu) and a team of special agents need to stop it, but can he regain their trust? HV

Then, they must set up a post-apocalypse political party, with Love putting compulsory sun, sand and sex on her manifesto. HR

Drive My Car (Ryûsuke Hamaguchi, 2021), 10.50pm, Film4
This is a real treat – two recent works by Japanese film-maker Ryûsuke Hamaguchi. Wheel of Fortune and Fantasy is on tomorrow, preceded by this meditative, moving adaptation of Haruki Murakami’s short story. After a personal tragedy, Hidetoshi Nishijima’s Tokyo actor-director Yūsuke heads to Hiroshima to stage a multilingual version of Chekhov’s Uncle Vanya. The power of telling and listening to stories plays out as he is driven to and from rehearsals by a young woman, Misaki (Tōko Miura), who shares his sense of loss and unresolved guilt. Simon Wardell
