TV tonight: Kirstie and Phil return to take on the UK’s impossible housing market

Location, Location, Location

8pm, Channel 4

Given Britain’s housing situation, it is hard to believe that this aspirational series is still being made. But as a new series begins, Kirstie Allsopp and Phil Spencer would probably argue that it is more needed than ever. The absurd cost of housing is acknowledged straight away and then it’s down to business as Natalie and Glen look for affordability in Torquay and Amy explores Devon. A well-made formula with a queasy subtext. Phil Harrison

The Big Bed-Bug Invasion

8pm, Channel 5

Nobody wants to encounter a bedbug, but everyone is talking about them. As more of the little biters arrive from France, this quickfire documentary examines some common myths, and looks at the best ways to stem an infestation. Jack Seale

DNA Family Secrets

9pm, BBC Two

More ancestry-based investigations from Stacey Dooley. This week, a trio are looking for a half-sibling who may have been born in postwar Germany, plus a woman with disabilities who was put up for adoption on the search for biological relatives. Alexi Duggins

Payback

9pm, ITV1

Lexie (Morven Christie) uses satnav to retrace the last movements of her late husband, and it leads nowhere good. The police, meanwhile, are still investigating his murder and bring yet more unwelcome evidence of infidelities to her attention. This will have to wait, though, because Cal (Peter Mullan) wants his money. Ellen E Jones

A League of Their Own

9pm, Sky Max

The loosely sports-themed quiz returns for an 18th series, now augmented by a Lioness in the shape of Jill Scott, who becomes a captain. Jamie Redknapp, Romesh Ranganathan and Micah Richards are still present. The guests presiding over the Aloto catwalk include Gareth Bale and Katherine Ryan. PH

Dark Winds

9pm, Alibi

The atmospheric thriller continues and Leaphorn (Zahn McClarnon) remains an uneasy conduit between the Native American community and the US authorities. The detectives interview witnesses to the murders and there is an intervention from an incongruously cheery family of holidaymakers. PH

Girl you know it’s true … except it wasn’t. The scandal of Grammy-winning Franco-German pop duo Milli Vanilli, who in 1990 were exposed as having lip-synced on all their records, is revived in Luke Korem’s cautionary documentary. In 1988, Munich dancers and singers Robert “Rob” Pilatus and Fabrice “Fab” Morvan were lured and manipulated into being the silent frontmen for Boney M svengali Frank Farian’s new hit-making project. “We embraced the lie,” says Fab, but the film details the strain on the duo of keeping the secret as they went global and, after their outing, the backlash that contributed to Rob’s early death. A tale of industry sharp practice with depressing racial undertones. Simon Wardell

Titane (Julia Ducournau, 2021), 10.50pm, Film4

Alexia (Agathe Rousselle), a young dancer with a plate in her head after a childhood road accident, murders a persistent male fan, is impregnated by a car then, on the run after further killings, poses as the long-lost son of fire chief Vincent (Vincent Lindon). Julia Ducournau’s provocative, Cronenberg-influenced horror doesn’t get any less bizarre after that, as the gender-fluid Alexia’s intrusion into the hyper-masculine environment of the fire station provokes and disrupts. SW

The House of Mirth (Terence Davies, 2000), 1.10am, Film4

The death of Terence Davies has left us with tragically few examples of his passionate film-making. Film4 is showing two of them this week: his 2011 Terence Rattigan adaptation The Deep Blue Sea was broadcast on Monday and this, a beautifully composed take on Edith Wharton’s novel from 2000. In one of the best performances of her career, Gillian Anderson plays Lily, a socialite in 1905 New York whose unmarried state and financial precarity leave her dangerously vulnerable to predatory male acquaintances. Her attempt to retain her dignity as her options narrow is truly heartbreaking. SW
