Inside No 9

10pm, BBC Two
Some starry guests join Reece Shearsmith and Steve Pemberton to kick off the ninth and final series of their treacle-black comedy anthology. Mark Bonnar, Siobhan Finneran, Susan Wokoma and Charlie Cooper play a motley crew of passengers who are forced to take sides when their train breaks down and a woman’s handbag is stolen – but will they choose the “right” one? Hollie Richardson

Race Across the World

9pm, BBC One
This season’s cast of characters are a delight, from lovable early leaders Eugenie and Isabel to mud bath-loving retired couple Stephen and Viv. They’ve come a long way, so now it’s time to navigate Thailand, where transport is patchy. Will the lure of sightseeing in Bangkok slow them down? It’s all to play for. Hannah Verdier

Secrets and Spies: The Nuclear Game

9pm, BBC Two
As the world stood in fear during the nuclear arms race of the 1980s, three spies played a dangerous game in the shadows to get the upper hand: British agent Michael Bettaney, US agent Aldrich Ames and Soviet agent Oleg Gordievsky. This three-part series hears their testimonies and never-before-heard recordings. HR

Painting Birds With Jim and Nancy Moir

9pm, Sky Arts

The artist formerly known as Vic Reeves, and his wife, Nancy, are back with their gently paced painting-cum-travel show. Their first guest is Justin Hawkins from the Darkness, which is apt, because you too will “believe in a thing called love” when you’ve seen Jim and Nancy collaborate on a pied wagtail mural. Adorable. Ellen E Jones

The Red King

9pm, Alibi
The sharply written pagan whodunnit continues with the much-trailed arrival of the Widow’s Wail. This evil storm cuts St Jory off from the mainland, making deflated detective Grace (Anjli Mohindra) feel even more isolated. But having everyone kettled in the village hall may help her uncover what really happened to missing teen Cai. Graeme Virtue

Abba: Against the Odds

10.40pm, BBC One
Another Abba documentary charting the Swedish group’s rise to pop domination. From those outlandish costumes to the politics surrounding their music and creating one of the biggest breakup songs ever, members Agnetha, Björn, Benny and Anni-Frid largely tell their own story through archive footage. HR

Live sport

Snooker: World Senior Championship, noon, Channel 5
At the Crucible theatre. The first-round matches include Ken Doherty v Tyson Crinis and James Wattana v Rodney Goggins.
