The Masked Singer
7pm, ITV1
TV’s wackiest talent show is back – hurrah! Air Fryer, Bubble Tea, Eiffel Tower, Chicken Caesar, Bigfoot, Dippy Egg and Rat are just some of the singing characters we’re going to be shouting “Take it off! Take it off!” at. It’s up to judges Davina McCall, Jonathan Ross, Rita Ora and Mo Gilligan to work out who’s behind the masks. Hollie Richardson
Talking Pictures: Glenda Jackson
5.15pm, BBC Two
What a woman! Glenda Jackson, who passed away in June, was an Academy award-winning actor, then in 1990 she made the switch to politics, spending 23 years as a Labour MP. The BBC archives offer insights into both her extraordinary character and career, as this Talking Pictures episode demonstrates. Ellen E Jones
Lives Well Lived
7pm, BBC Two
In terms of celebrity deaths, 2023 has been right down there with 2016. Kirsty Wark helms this documentary celebrating the lives of a few of them. The programme features Beverley Knight paying tribute to Tina Turner, Stephen Fry remembering Michael Parkinson, Penny Mordaunt discussing Betty Boothroyd and Bryan Robson on Bobby Charlton. Phil Harrison
The Weakest Link
7.40pm, BBC One
After the fancy dress of last week’s special it’s back to business as usual as eight famous faces try to bank a decent-sized wedge for charity. Among the celebrities lining up to be lightly roasted by Romesh Ranganathan are Krishnan Guru-Murthy, Russell Watson, Helen McGinn and squeakiest link Joe Pasquale. Graeme Virtue
Bradley Walsh: My Comedy Heroes
8.25pm, Channel 5
It’s all about the double acts for Walsh’s final celebration of comedy heroes. With classic clips and celebrity anecdotes, the duos range from French and Saunders to Steptoe and Son. Why do Fry and Laurie gel so well, and how does this compare to the chalk and cheese of the Two Ronnies? Hannah Verdier
The Voice UK
8.30pm, ITV1
Judges Tom Jones, Anne-Marie, Olly Murs and will.i.am open the finale with a group medley – including a nod to Prince. Raye also takes to the stage for a singsong. But then it’s on to picking a winner from the four remaining acts. HR
Film choices
Paddington 2, 6pm, BBC One
Paddington 2 is a movie so perfect that other movies have started to make jokes about how perfect it is, as demonstrated by the scene in The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent where Nicolas Cage and Pedro Pascal watch it together, weeping. Nevertheless, there’s still something deeply magical about this film. Obviously Hugh Grant clatters away with the whole thing as villain Phoenix Buchanan, but the rest is just as wonderful. Sisu, 10.15pm, Sky Cinema Premiere
Another movie that is only tangentially linked to Christmas. It’s a blood-soaked, gory, wild Finnish war film in the mould of First Blood, about a retired commando forced to kill his way through a colossal wall of Nazis. It’s a film stuffed with snapping bones and flying limbs, brutal to the point of parody. And the Christmas connection? It’s set in Lapland. SH
