Mary Berry’s Highland Christmas
9pm, BBC One
Bezza visits some special Scottish friends to teach them local recipes – but Andy Murray’s granny, Shirley, gives her a run for her money with homemade shortcake at the family’s Dunblane hotel. Elsewhere, Berry dips into a Christmas fondue with Iain Stirling (after herding reindeer), and makes a classic bûche de Noël with Emeli Sandé. Stollen, highland pie and festive canapes are also on the menu. Hollie Richardson
The Couple Next Door
9pm, Channel 4
Sure, this thriller about swingers in suburbia will make you question your use of time. But don’t deny that it is fun to hate – especially Scot Sam Heughan’s “Yorkshire” accent. The very definition of guilty pleasure. Concludes on Thursday at 9pm. HR
Bad Education: A Christmas Carol
9pm, BBC Three
Of all the endless Charles Dickens adaptations, this is the one we really didn’t ask for (although it is probably the most flamboyant). On the last day of term before Christmas, Stephen (Layton Williams) is visited by ghosts past, present and future – with whom he breaks into song and dance. HR
A League of Their Own Christmas Special
9pm, Sky Max
Former Manchester United full-back Patrice Evra and football-fan comedian Rob Beckett are the studio guests as the sports quiz serves up another platter of festive banter and games. Outside the studio, Brentford FC are the unlucky recipients of a Christmas lunch made by the League of Their Own gang. Jack Seale
The Lazarus Project
10pm, Sky Max
Season two of the zippy time-loop thriller takes a rare breather by focusing on Janet (Boiling Point’s Vinette Robinson), newly reunited with her daughter back in 2012. But there’s a job to do: can she help the Time Break Initiative debug their glitchy time machine before Past Janet turns up and burns the whole place down? Graeme Virtue
Mayfair Witches
11.15pm, BBC Two
This Anne Rice adaptation lacks the louche wit of fellow Immortal Universe show Interview With the Vampire, but those lush jewel tones make up for it. Grieving witch-in-waiting Rowan (Alexandra Daddario) is drawn inexorably to New Orleans, where her birth mother, Deirdre (Annabeth Gish), is emerging from a catatonic state. Ellen E Jones
