Corridors of Power: Should America Police the World?

10pm, BBC Four
“The images of that haunt us all,” said Bill Clinton, then the US president, on a visit to Rwanda in 1998. A few years earlier, as many as 1 million people had been murdered in the country over a 100-day period – and yet the US had not acted on the genocide being waged against the Tutsi minority as it unfolded. This powerful eight-part series continues to examine global atrocities and ask: what happened to “never again”? Former members of the US government, including Madeleine Albright, share their thoughts. Hollie Richardson

Celebrity MasterChef

8pm, BBC One
Five cooks join the competition this week, but only four will make it through. Is the Team GB sprinter Harry Aikines-Aryeetey as fast in the kitchen as he is on the track? Can Love Island’s Chloe Burrows serve food like she serves outfits? What will EastEnders’ Danielle Harold do when the task goes pear-shaped? Ellen E Jones

Cooking With the Stars

8pm, ITV1
After debuting their kitchen skills earlier in the series, Carol Vorderman, Linford Christie and Ellie Simmonds are back for more speedy culinary challenges. Under the watchful eye of Emma Willis and Tom Allen, as well as professional chef mentors, they must now take on twice the number of dishes for the chance to compete in the semi-finals. Saving Lives in Cardiff

9pm, BBC Two
Chelsea, 19, has an extremely rare tumour deep in her brain. John, 74, collapsed after an abdominal aortic aneurysm. Rhys, 17, has waited two years for surgery on a chest disfigurement. Watch the doctors at the University hospital of Wales do remarkable work in the face of no beds, record-breaking waiting lists and forced cancellations. HR

Elsbeth

9pm, Sky Witness
The sudden death of a tennis star inspires Elsbeth Tascioni’s case of the week, as she and her crime-solving partner investigate what caused the sporting champion to drop dead on the court. Five episodes in, this offbeat crime caper led by Carrie Preston certainly charms. NV

First Dates

10pm, Channel 4
Before heading to Paris to become the Olympics’ unlikeliest pundit, Fred Sirieix reopened his romantic restaurant for hopeful dates. This time, best mates Emma and Dani are having a double date – but they end up considering swapping partners. There is also 53-year-old Venezuelan Aire, who is looking for someone “a bit crazy”. Shouldn’t be a problem. HR
