This week we saw communal violence – from Maharashtra to Haryana – as a railway constable shot dead three Muslim passengers in a moving train near Mumbai and communal flare ups claimed six lives across Haryana’s Nuh and Gurugram.
Our usual suspects were all over Haryana violence. But instead of asking the right questions about the administrative failures, and the involvement of notorious characters like Monu Manesar and Bittu Bajrangi, we were served dollops of a possible ‘Pakistan angle’ behind the communal clashes.
The hate was strong. From Sudarshan News’ open call to pick up arms to Aman Chopra seeking a “permanent ilaaj” for stone pelters – which given his track-record, sounded a lot like a call for the Nazi’s ‘Final Solution’.
The Godi media also presented alternate facts on the tragic Jaipur-Mumbai train shooting. The mainstream TV anchors divulged the shooter’s mental health, while one of them claimed the victims were “caught in a crossfire”. They also snubbed the incident’s viral video which revealed the shooter’s biases, and the hatred he fostered.
For all this and more, watch.
