The No. 4 Georgia Bulldogs hit the road to play the No. 1 Texas Longhorns on Oct. 19 in one of the biggest games of the 2024 college football season.
Georgia hosts the Mississippi State Bulldogs the week before playing at Texas. Texas plays the Oklahoma Sooners in the Red River Rivalry in Week 7.
The Georgia at Texas game will be televised on ABC. Kickoff for the Georgia-Texas game is at 7:30 p.m. ET.
The winner of the Georgia at Texas game could have an inside track to making the SEC championship game. Texas won the last meeting between the two schools, which came in the 2019 Sugar Bowl. Texas won 28-21.
Georgia is just 1-4 in school history against Texas. The Bulldogs’ lone win against the Longhorns came in 1983.
Georgia needs to win against Texas in order to have a legitimate chance to make the SEC championship game. Otherwise, it is unlikely the Bulldogs would be able to make it to Atlanta with two conference losses.
There’s a strong chance that ESPN’s “College GameDay” will be in Austin, Texas, for the Georgia-Texas game. Oct. 19 will be Georgia’s first ever SEC game against Texas.
